mother of the groom dress for formal afternoon wedding

The wedding is a formal event held in a church but at two in the afternoon. Is a long dress appropriate or tea lenghth? A more tailored dress or is a dress with a somewhat sparkly jacket o.k.? I have both, but I don't know what to do. Please answer soon. Thank youSmile Shamrock

Dear Shamrock,

The time of the ceremony does not affect the mother of the groom. The formality dictates that you'd either wear long or tea length. Your guide here is the mother of the bride. What is she wearing? Will either of your choices compliment her dress? Please make your decision based on what she will be wearing.
