MOB is wearing a navy dress that hits just above the ankle. As MOG I am short and heavy-set--a tea length dress looks awful. I have found two navy dresses that look good on me but they are longer, and one is an iridescent material with beading. Should I choose one of these or opt for a knee length dress in a grey tone. The wedding colors are marine blue and white.

Dear Dlynch,

It really isn't so much the length of the dress, the general formality of the dress is much more important. So, if the longer dress isn't more formal than the MOB's, then you are fine. But, I am concerned with the beading. Beading is fine for evening events, but it may be too formal.

Best wishes,
