plum colored dress for stepmom of the groom

I am the stepmom of the groom. I have just been informed that the bridesmaids' dresses are wine colored and one of the mother's dresses is mauve. The dress I just bought is plum colored. Is this an acceptable color? If not, what color dress should I wear?

Plus, please make sure that you will be treated as one of the mothers. Some still treat step mothers as guests, not mothers. If you are considered a guest, you would be dressed as one.
