2 weddings, Feb & Sept, Methodist & Catholic

I have 2 weddings to attend, both are 6pm weddings with reception to follow. The first (Feb) is a family wedding, to be held at a Methodist church with reception to follow at a COuntry Club. MOB has said she is wearing a part sequence dress and that it is a formal event. However, invitation did not state black tie. Wedding party is wearing tuxs. I was thinking about a long black satin dress that has thin small beaded straps. The front drops about 3'' below my collarbone and the back drops between my shoulder blades. I will be adding a ivory or white marabou wrap with a satin bow (this is not a boa, but an actual wrap). Is this too provocative? Too formal?

The next (Sept) is a very good friend, and will be held in a Catholic church, reception to follow at a classy hotel with dinner served. The bride is wearing a courture gown, and the groom is wearing his military dress blue uniform. The Marine sword ceremony will also be performed. Any suggestions on attire?

By the way, I am early 30's and attending with my husband. He is wearing a very nice dark charcol gray JNY suit.

The dress for the Methodist wedding actually sounds perfect for both occasions.

I do not think it is to dressy for an evening wedding and the wrap will keep it from being provacative during the church service.

Your friends Catholic wedding sounds just as dressy so if you choose you could wear the same dress again or go with another long and/or satin dress.

For the Catholic service, I would recomend keeping your shoulders covered and if the dress is low cut keeping that covered as well.

Best Wishes
