4 pm ceremony, reception immediately following November wedding

Wedding is tomorrow! The dress I was going to wear fits the description of little black dress or similar. Just tried it on and noticed a huge hole in the back! I have another dress that I think I can wear to the reception - long, satin, ankle length, dark gray, sparkly, wrap style top, long, sheer bell sleeves. I wore it to a formal awards ceremony a couple of years ago. It's much more beautiful than I described it. It's definitely a cold month dress. I can't wear this to the ceremony at 4 pm, right? But the reception is immediately following! Will I have enough time to change clothes? Is it okay to wear in middle November when the weather is unusually warm in Chicago right now???

Dear Guest,

The dress you describe is very formal. Unless the reception is very formal, you will be over dressed by a long run. If the event is very formal, the dress would be fine.

You probably won't have enough time to change though if the reception is directly after the wedding. Plus, the dress seems too formal for the wedding. But, if you decide that it seems appropriate for the reception, wear it to the wedding anyway. More than likely no one will be looking at your dress when the bride is about to walk down the aisle.

Best wishes,
