5:00 pm formal Las Vegas wedding

I have been invited to a 5:00 pm formal wedding in Las Vegas at the Bellagio in mid-October. I am wondering what is the appropriate attire. I do have a burgundy floral dress with sequins and a tiered and slightly ruffled skirt that is tea length. Is this appropriate or should I go with something a little more formal? I also have a black tea length skirt with a white & black shear top with flocked flowers & sequins. It has trumpet sleeves that are slit to the elbow. Also my mother who is 85 is the grandmother of the groom. She is hesitant to purchase anything just for this day. What would be appropriate for her? I know that the mothers of the groom & bride are wearing long dresses.

Thanks for your help.

Dear Las Vegas Wedding,

Formal evening weddings can mean so many different things for women. Typically this could mean floor length elegant dresses to cocktail dresses. So, as you see you and your mother have some choices.

Not being able to actually see any of your outfits makes it difficult to know if any of them would be appropriate. So, try them on and picture yourself with others wearing long elegant gowns, tuxedos, and black cocktail dresses. If you feel comfortable in any of them, that one will be perfect.

Best wishes,
