     Are these appropriate to wear?

On New Years Eve I am attending my boyfriends brother's wedding at 2:pm. I have not been told it is formal or semi formal, just normal. I have purchased two dresses. One black with spaghetti staps, slightly dressy like going to a nice restaurant. Also a dark beige full lace strapless dress, that also comes to just above my knees. Are either of these appropriate? Can you wear black to a wedding? Can you wear lace? Thank you.

Dear Guest,

The beige dress seems too formal for a wedding during the day. You may appear to be one of the bridesmaids. Your black dress could work. Please take some sort of cover up just in case the setting is conservative.

Black is appropriate for weddings these days.

Best wishes,
