     Attire for SIL of groom

In a few weeks, my husband and I will be attending his brother’s wedding. My husband is a groomsman, and will be wearing a tuxedo. I am not in the wedding party, but will be expected to be in some family photos. What should I plan to wear??? From what I understand, it is pretty formal. Not black tie, but definitely coat and tie/cocktail at a minimum. I don’t want to be underdressed, but don’t want to be overdressed either. The wedding is at 6:30 in the evening, and the invitation is by far the most formal looking invite I have ever seen. Please help!

Dear Formal Attire,

Dress in your nicest cocktail dress--the little black dress or its equivalent. It is fine to go a bit more formal with this dress, such as sequins and beading.

Best wishes,
