     Black Tie Wedding

I have a black tie wedding to attend that is going to take place in Florida. It is before 6pm. I was told the dress should be below the knees so are old prom dresses okay to wear? Do you recommend a certain color to wear?

Black tie events have changed dramatically over the years. However, if the wedding is conservative and traditional I suggest wearing a full length gown; a prom dress would do. If this is the case stick with subdued yet feminine colors. Black is always a safe color to fall back on, but you may also consider chocolate brown, slate blue, mauve, red and any other colors that are appropriate for Autumn as well as a wedding. Good luck, and remember if you are wearing a prom dress to a wedding be mindful of too many embellishments; you would not want to take all eyes off the bride and her dress. Wink
