     Flower Girl's Mother's attire

I am attending my ex-husband's niece's wedding on May 20, 2006. The wedding is at 5pm at a Baptist church, with a dinner reception to follow at a very nice hotel. There will probably be no expense spared. My 4 year old daughter is in the wedding as a flower girl. I am five foot seven and a 1/2 and want to make sure that my dress is acceptable. I am on good terms with the family, as far as I know, but I still want to make a very classy appearance because there will be lots of ex-family there that I haven't seen for a while. Also, I can't decide on open toe or closed toe shoes..or what jewlery...I was thinking pearls. The dress falls above my ankles. Please advise!!! I am sending a link to the dress below, which is black. The shoes are the second link. I tried to post both in a Word Document, but couldn't ever get the file small enough to attach. Thank you very much.

Dear Guest,

There are no pictures. But, I can suggest to think: Jackie Kennedy. Choose an outfit that is classy, but not too formal. Your dress may be too formal if it is long. Black is great though.

Choose shoes that seem to go with the outfit. If closed toes seem best, choose them. It is the same for all jewelry. Less is better here. And, yes, pearls are great.

If you choose open toed shoes, do not wear nylons. It is a faux pas.

Best wishes,

Rebecca, thank you so much for the response. I will try to send the file again, however, here is the description of the dress in case they don't come through again:

Ultra-romantic empire-waist dress, long and flowing in beaded silk chiffon. Bias-cut for subtle shape; slightly flared hem. Gathered neckline and puffed cap sleeves; back zip. Fully lined. 36" from waist. Thank you!

This dress would be appropriate for an evening formal wedding. Please find out if it is formal. If not, this dress is too formal and you will most likely stand out.
