Guest Attire-Evening September Wedding -Husband is Groomsman
My Husband is one of 8 groomsmen at his best friend's wedding. It's a 7pm wedding in Austin, Texas with a buffet reception at a Texas History Museum- in downtown Austin. I have a long black dress that drops to my ankles, with black "moderate" sequence pattern from top to bottom) and it's sleeveless. Because my dress is long, does it matter if I wear it? I plan to stay moderate with accessories with medium black earrings. Would appreciate advice on evening bag and heels - how should I decide on these? I intend to wear a shawl to cover my arms while in church.

Dear Wife of a Groomsman,
Your dress and shawl is fine. Keeping your accessories to a minimum is best because you wouldn't want to appear to formally dressed.
Your bag and shoes should match your dress in formality. Black stappy sandals would work fine.

I think a nice sheer shawl would look nice and dressy without being too formal. As for your shoes I would suggest a solid strappy heel. I would stay away from a shoe with any crystal embellishments since you want to have a moderate look. The same goes for your handbag...a nice black clutch would look trendy and classic. You should keep your accessories classy and sutle at the same time. Let your dress make the statment since it has the beadwork. You don't want your dress and accessories to compete with eachother, you want them to compliment eachother.
