     Is this appropriate?

I'll be attending one of my best friend's weddings in July as a guest. The dress I have in mind is black and hits about mid-calf length. It also has a dark red satin sash that is to be tied around the waist. The dress is strapless, but I have black "sateen" "shrug" to cover my shoulders so as not to be too revealing. The wedding will be taking place about 4 pm. Does this sound appropriate? I have another concern: I have a tattoo on the outside of my lower calf. It's not small enough to miss - it's about 4" tall by 4" wide. It is a classy, well done tattoo, but considering the dress I want to wear will show off the tattoo, I didn't know if this is bad for a wedding? Thanks
-I am attaching a picture of the dress. Keep in mind, I'm wanting to wear a cropped, short sleeve black shrug, also. The shrug is very similar to the sash..."sateen" is what they call it

Dear Shrugging,

As long as the wedding isn't too informal, this should be fine.

Best wishes,
