My date has a black suit. He wants to match my attire...I'll be wearing a spaghetti strap silk dress that has a brown print with a eggshell background with a nude color lining. I'd hate to have my date buy a brown suit. Is it ok to have him wear an eggshell or nude color shirt with a black and brown tie? The wedding is outdoors this month at 3 pm.
Why not make this easy and have him in the black suit, white shirt, and his tie could match your dress. Or, he could wear the black suit with egg shell shirt. His tie could have all of the colors in it.
I agree, don't have your date wear a brown suit just to match you. I think that it is nice that he wants to coordinate with you and he does have a few ways to do it. As for a color shirt...he can wear egg shell, a light tan and he can always wear white. As for a tie...he can wear a solid color or if there is a print in it then you want to make sure that the color of the shirt is picked up in the tie. The colors in the tie can be a combination of egg shell, black, medium brown (you don't want dark brown b/c it will clash with the black suit) and/or even a nice gold.
Here are a few examples of shirt and tie combinations...
-A white or egg shell shirt with a solid gold tie.
-A light brown shirt with a gold tie. Now this combo is a little tricky b/c you have to make sure that the color of the shirt and tie blend and don't clash. This is for the Regis Philbin look.
-A white or egg shell shirt with a printed tie. I am one for striped ties, so the tie could be light tan in the background with egg shell/white (depending color of shirt), medium brown and black stripes. Obviously whatever print you and/or your date likes best would be perfect.
I hope the suggestions help and good luck finding the best shirt and tie combo! Lori of ModelBride.com http://www.modelbride.com
