     No children

The invitations were sent out already addresses to only those who were to attend. Now I am getting back RSVP's with more attending than were inviting and i'm assuming they are including their children. How do I let them know we can not afford to feed everyone's children even though some guests will have children? How do I tell them that we want adults only and not to just assume their children can come?

Dear Lost,

This is a common problem because so many do not know proper etiquette and just assume their children are entitled to go anywhere they wish. It is unfortunate.

Typically we ask close family to let these guests know that only those invited may attend. But, you may have to assign someone to do this. It should be done soon so these parents can arrange child care.

Other than that, you may have to arrange to have some tables in the back for those who bring extra guests. Hopefully some will not attend.

Best wishes,
