I am attending a church wedding October 15. The ceremony is at 1 p.m., the reception is at 5 p.m. at the Hilton. Cocktails at 5 p.m., dinner at 6. I am not sure what to wear - the invitation is quite formal. Do I dress in something less formal for the church, then change for the reception? Should I wear a solid color or is a print ok? I'm confused! Thanks for your advice.

Dear Guest,
Dress more conservatively for the wedding and more elegant for the evening. But, you could wear the same attire if you have a jacket to wear over a cocktail dress. A nice suit would be fine for both events also. Just change the top.
It really doesn't matter about pattern vs solid. But, red would be an inappropriate color.

There is a lot of time between the church and reception so you have time to change if you want to wear 2 different outfits. Just remember you can always wear the same thing...it's no biggie. But, if you do want to change I suggest wearing something church appropriate for the ceremony. For example, you could wear a nice suit or dressy pants and top...a sundress or a skirt and nice top. As for the reception you will obviously be wearing your cocktail attire. As for prints or solids, it doesn't matter...that decision is up to you on which you like best.
