     Outdoor May Evening Wedding

I have to attend an outdoor evening wedding in Detroit this weekend. There is no mention of attire on the invite, though it is a formal invitation. My husband is an attendant and will be wearing a tux. I have a white, strapless taffetta tea-length dress with black crinolin underneath - is this too formal to wear? Too prom-ish (I'm 30.) Thanks!

Dear Outdoor Wedding,

I'm thinking that will be a bit too promish. Love the word, by the way.

Perhaps wearing cocktail attire would be best. That is right in the middle and may be just the thing, since this is an outdoor wedding--formal, but not. So, maybe the little black dress or it equivalent would be perfect.

Best wishes,
