     Proper Guest attire

A two part question:

1.A very elaborate wedding, church 3:30, sit down wedding reception, full orchestra,Keep in mind this would have been clearly formal in the old days, because the Mass would have been at 5:30 or 6:00, but the Catholic parishes won't let you do that now.

2. If formal is it ever proper for a gentleman to wear a white dinner jacket in the summer?

Dear Anthony,

The white dinner jacket is the summer tux. But, the tux is evening wear. The correct attire would be a suit. If the reception was in the evening the white dinner jacket would have been perfect.

Best wishes,

Thanks for your answer, but do you still fell this way knowing the reception will commence at 5:30PM?

If the reception is in the evening, you could wear the white dinner jacket. Actually, either would do. You will probably notice men in both suits and white dinner jackets.
