Hello! I've got a quick question. A friend of mine was married out of state last week, and the reception will take place this Saturday at 6pm at the home of her in-laws. What would be considered appropriate attire for my husband and me? We're unsure if a suit and a long dress is too formal for a summertime reception taking place in a home (in the hot state of Arizona. The invitation does not specify the formality, and we don't want to be dressed too casually or too formally for the occasion. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Dear Guest,
Most probably cocktail attire will be appropriate. This is a suit for your husband and the little black dress or its equivalent for you.

I agree with Rebecca...cocktail attire is best. It is the safest choice and appropriate. Since it is so hot your husband can wear a summer suit and lighter colors like tan. As for you, there are endless possibilities that are cute. You can wear the "little black dress" b/c every woman has one in her closet, but even a cocktail dress in a fun color like kelly green, purple or chocolate brown would be perfect.
