Renaissance Wedding Clothes for Guests & Bridal Party

I am having a renaissance wedding. I have read many renaissance sites that suggest that guest wear clothing from the peirod as well as everyone that is in the wedding. i wasn't really sure on this seeing how there are going to be more people dressed in nice clothing..then in renaissance clothing...do you think it would look right? Should I put Renaissance Attire welcome in the invatations or just forget about the guest wearing period clothing all together so that way the bridal party really stands out?

Both ways would be fun and great...but i would just like to hear some people's ideas!

Dear Here ye,

Traditionally, the only time attire is mentioned on an invitation is when the wedding is 'black tie' and occasionally 'white tie'. You could let everyone know that they may participate by 'word of mouth'.

Congratulations.
