     Second Wedding Guest Attire

My fiance and I are invited to a wedding for a friend of his on a Saturday in late August. It is his second marriage and the wedding is to be held at his house. His house is out in the country (i.e. nice farm place). The wedding is at 6:00 pm. What is proper attire for my fiance and for myself seeing as it is his friend and I don't know him that well? I have a black halter, approximately knee length dress w/ a sequin band under the bust, but think that might be too dressy. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mandy

I think that your black halter sounds perfect. Yes...the sequin band does dress it up a bit in a formal matter, but the hem being at the knee doesn't make it a super formal dress. If this dress was floor length then I would think otherwise.

My suggestion is to not dress it up too much. Jewelry makes an outfit either more formal or not. Since you don't want to be super formal and the dress already has sequin embellishments you should think "trendy" or "subtle" when choosing your accessories. For example you could wear fun beaded chandelier earrings with a matching bracelet (fun and trendy colors will add a great touch to your attire without being too formal), or even small simple studs with a delicate Y-shaped necklace (depending on the neckline of your dress).

Have fun at the wedding!
