I have an outdoor MN wedding to go to this Saturday, September 10 and it is supposed to be 95 degrees out! What should I wear? Is it ok to just wear a nice sundress? I don't want to seem to summery, but it's going to be an extremely hot day. The wedding is at 4:00.
1. What does the wedding invitation style suggest; formal or informal?
2. Where is the wedding and reception taking place? Is it indoors or outdoors...country club or backyard tent...etc? Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
Thank you for your quick response. I guess I'm not sure what the invitation suggests. How do I know? It doesn't mention "formal" or "informal" or anything else. The reception is at a country club.
The invitation give plenty of clues. If the invitation uses formal language, heavy paper, and engraved type, the wedding will be formal. The opposite is true also. Plus, the venue of the wedding and reception gives clues also. You state that the reception will be held at a country club after 4pm. This says a lot.
A country club has rules on proper attire. It is unfortunate that the couple didn't include an enclosure stating this. So many think of this as improper though. So, we will forgive them :) It may help for you to contact the country club and ask what the proper attire should be. Other than that, I would imagine that a cocktail dress would be best. Your sundress seems too informal.
Thank you! I think I will wear a chiffon, just below the knee short sleeve dress. Still light and airy, but not a sundress. I hope this will be ok ... the wedding is tomorrow!
