I am attending a wedding in N.Carolina in June. As I am from another part of the country, I am not sure what would be appropriate to wear. The men are to wear either formal attire or business suits. I need clothing for a large rehearsal dinner, a brunch the next morning and the wedding, itself. The wedding is to be held in the evening. I am told that a few women will wear gowns, but the majority will wear cocktail dresses to both the rehearsal dinner and the wedding. Are there any colors I should avoid? Is a black cocktail dress appropriate? Are sequins appropriate? I tend to get cold, so can I get something with a jacket to use. Thank you.

The wedding is at 6pm in a church and the reception is at an elegant country club.
Cocktail attire would most likely be the safest choice for the wedding and reception. Sequins may be over the top, especially if the men wear business suits. Attire you would wear to a nice restaurant would be appropriate to the rehearsal dinner.

Thank you for getting back to me. I just wanted to ask again what you think about a black dress for the reception or wedding. This wedding will be in N.C.
