     Sunday 4pm wedding; 5pm reception--what to wear?

I am attending a wedding in a chapel on the outer banks at 4pm and then an outdoor reception (sit-down dinner) at 5pm this month. I have NO idea what to wear because I feel like a little black dress is too formal. I have a great top and floral skirt, but I am not sure if that's formal enough for the reception. HELP!!

Dear Not Sure,

In this case, it may be best to ask someone close to the couple. More than likely your outfit would be fine. But, sometimes these events turn out much more formal than we expect.

Best wishes,

I have asked a bridesmaid and she also has no idea. Their dresses are knee-length and black. Would a little black dress be too dark for a summer wedding? Also, there is a cocktail hour after the ceremony.

Either outfit would be fine, but I would go with the little black dress. It is usually the safe dress to wear.
