Wear Winter White at the Reception

I am attending an evening semi formal reception in the Norhteast tonight and have purchased an elegant winter white pants suit with a beaded brushed gold camisole and have been told that it is perfectly acceptable since the bride is wearing white, is this okay?

Dear Winter White,

I'm not completely understanding the statement about wearing white being appropriate because the bride is wearing white. I must be misunderstanding the meaning of that--sorry. Traditionally, we would avoid wearing white because it distracts from the bride (as well as wearing red). However, your outfit should be fine because it is a pant suit and you are wearing a gold camisole to distract from the white.

Enjoy your event!
