     Wedding Attire

Hello, I have been invited to a "full-formal" wedding in April in London. My date will be wearing a tuxedo... is it appropriate for me to wear a full length red satin ball gown in the church (it is not a Catholic wedding), or should I go with something more subdued for the ceremony (I was thinking of a long platinum satin skirt with a black top) and change before the reception? Thank you!

Dear Wedding Attire,

Unless the ceremony site has a rule, wearing red is not taboo, but if you are unsure enough to feel you have to ask, you may be more comfortable to wear the platinum and change for the reception. You make yourself comfortable in doing that. It would be very inappropriate to be wearing something that is so loud and dramatic, that it takes focus from the wedding's participants.

I agree, the red ball gown might take away from the rest of the party at the ceremony. You might feel more comfortable wearing the platinum skirt with the black top then changing for the reception where its more of a party type atmosphere.

Good Luck,
