What is the equivalent to the little black dress? I want to choose something with a wintery feel, but still show I'm young and fun (21). Does a silk top, shrug, and skirt work? Black pants? Or should I really wear a little black dress?

Thanks!

Dear Equivalent,

It means attire in the same formality as the little black dress, which is cocktail attire (semi-formal) and classy.

I don't know what a shrug is. But, a silk top, slacks or skirt, and a nice jacket would work if it is very high quality. An evening suit works much better. This could be a skirt style.

Best wishes,
