What sort of guest dress for an August, Catholic wedding?
I am attending a Catholic wedding in August. The wedding is at 2:00 with a cocktail hour starting at 5:00 and dinner served at 6:00. Some details I know about the wedding: there are over 200 guests attending, the reception is at a very nice hotel and the seating is by placecard. Would the attached dress with a shawl be appropriate? Mine is much like it, but it is not a halter top, it is not backless at all. Thank you so much for your help

Dear Dressing Up, It would be fine if, as you say, it is not a halter style. Definitely dress conservatively for the wedding and you can remove the shawl for the reception. Best wishes, Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
