My brother in law is getting married in August, it is a 2 pm catholic wedding with a reception at a country club following. The invitation looks fairly formal (all black and white, fancy lettering) I know the bridesmaids are wearing black and white dresses. I get the impression from all of this that it is a fairly formal event. I have two dresses and can't figure out which one is more appropriate.
1) deep purple (fades diagonially to a pinkish purple color then goes back to the deep purple) satin full length dress, fancy strap design.
2) mostly black dress 3/4 length with cream colored straps and band across the top.
Thanks for any advice.
PS. I am not sure if it make any difference but my husband is in the wedding.

Re: [Rosey] What to wear to 2 pm catholic wedding...

Hi Rosey,
Both of the dresses sound beautiful, but I suggest wearing the purple one. Besides the fact that I love it when guests step out of the safe route and wear a color, which is a great festive look, it also sounds more formal. Since the dress is satin and floor length it is more formal, and you mentioned that the reception is going to be pretty formal.
