My husband and I are traveling from NY to London for a wedding next week. What is the appropriate attire? I am used to wearing cocktail gowns (black usually) and longer gowns for weddings in NY. We are in our mid-thirties and friends of the groom.
The wedding will take place at 3:30 at a church followed by a reception at Crix in Terling Chelmsford.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Dear London Wedding,
It is probably best to treat this the same as a wedding in NY. The cocktail dress should be fine.

I would keep clear of black, and also do not recommend a long dress. Will you wear a hat? You will find most of the women do. Jill Curtis Psychotherapist, Author How to Get Married ... Again (A Guide to Second Weddings) London, UK http://www.familyonwards.com

Jill,
Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't planning on wearing a hat... Would a shin-length red sleeveless dress with white flowers be appropriate? I would wear a shawl over it.
