What to wear to outdoor, afternoon wedding in Florida
I will be attending a 3pm wedding at a park in central Florida this Sunday. The reception is in the same location (the park pavilion). The bride is my high school best friend, and she is wearing a long, semi-formal wedding dress. She isn't having any bridesmaids. The invitation says informal and the wedding is small (about 40 guests). What should I wear? Also, what would be appropriate for my date? Please help!
Thank you,
Wanting to look her best on her best friend's day

Dear Wants to Look Her Best,
Just dress up. Wear what you would to a very nice restaurant on a first date. Your date should do the same. It wouldn't hurt for him to wear a suit, but a sport jacket or blazer should be fine.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm planning on wearing a skirt and maybe a sweater set with low heels. Do you have any suggestions on color appropriate for the season? I own a lot of pastels, but wouldn't mind going shopping for something new for the occasion. Thanks.

Your outfit should be fine. We dress more for the weather and region these days, so don't worry about the season. If this part of Florida is warm, which most is, the pastels will work well. If not, perhaps a darker color would be more suitable. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
