     early evening June outdoor wedding

I am totally lost...I am attending the wedding of one of my husbands co-workers. The ceremony and reception are taking place in the bride's parents garden, starting at 5:30pm. The bride and groom are outdoorsey people but I feel their parents may not be.
My closet is somewhat lacking in "dress" clothes, my options are nice slacks or a knee length skirt (both grey) and a blouse, a mid-calf sleeveless dress or a more formal floor-length dress (pale green).

Dear June Wedding,

This is difficult because we really don't know the formality of the event. Garden weddings can be informal to formal, especially in the evening. I am guessing, but I think it will be between 'dressy casual' and 'cocktail attire'. So (just guessing) I think that as long as your dress is high quality, your sleeveless dress will be the safest choice.

Best wishes,
