formal reception 4 a not wealthy crowd?

CrazyI have always dreamed of a tuxedo and ballgown clad reception for my Cinderella wedding, is it rude to ask for formal wear if all my friends and family aren't, let's say, all that wealthy, I want everyone to come, and I want my dream wedding. What's your advice?

Thanks!
Alexus, 7/05 Bride!

Dear Formal Reception,

If you wish for your celebration to be formal, it is your choice. Renting a tuxedo isn't too expensive and many women just love a chance to dress up. You would print 'black tie' on your invitation, so your guest will know that tuxedos are expected.

Sincerely,
