Good evening. I have been invited to an 11 AM formal wedding. I am male and I just bought a black, velvet coat/blazer and I would like to wear that to the wedding. Could I wear it with tuxedo pants or would you suggest something else? Also, what would be appropriate attire for my date? Finally, the colors of the wedding are red and orange. Should we wear colors to complement the wedding colors? Your expedient assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Dear Guest,
The jacket would be fine, but a suit would have been better. Please don't mix tuxedo pants with the jacket. The slacks are part of a suit and the jacket isn't. Just wear nice slacks.
Your date could wear a nice dressy dress, suit, or very nice separates. She should just dress up--no red.
No, you shouldn't coordinate your colors with the bridal party. You would look like family members who are a part of the bridal party.
