I am attending a 4pm garden wedding in NC mountains - Sept. 24th. Cocktail reception and dinner to follow ceremony (not if if inside or outside). I bought a dress - Laundry split halter dress in silk/chiffon type material but my husband said it is okay....I am also 3 1/2 months pregnant and having a hard time finding a dress since I am showing some but not enough for someone to really go "oh" she is pregnant rather than looking at me like I have a slight flabby stomach.....I went to a maternity store - the owner suggested I wear a black strapless tunic with matching pants that she has in the strore - I guess a jersey type material (flowing - wide leg pants)...it will stretch as I grow and I would be able to wear it to a holiday function - change around the jewerly....is this appropriate for the wedding or should I just wear the dress. Thanks.
It sounds like both outfits are nice but you must be comfortable with what you choose to wear. If indeed the outfit at the maternity shop is more comfortable and you can get more wear out of it, go with it. Don't forget a wrap the season and the temperature can surprise you. Honestly, you could wear either dress or the tunic outfit. And like you said...the tunic can be worn again! You have to feel pretty and comfortable, so which ever outfit does that for you should be the one that you wear.
Not to make you go even more crazy with the wedding being a week away...but if you want to still wear a dress, but you aren't 100% satisfied with the one you have now you can find one that fits you better and makes your husband say "wow"! Since you are pregnant and starting to show, I suggest a nice dress with an empire waist. There are 2 reasons for this, one is...since the dress has an empire waist the fabric will lay nicely over your cute belly instead of be snug agaisnt it and it will flatter your figure. The second is...the empire waist line is the peasant look that is very popular this season. Designer, Vera Wang, have peasant inspired dresses for the spring season, and guess what...the empire waist line was all over her fashion line.
