My cousin is getting married in January - a Catholic church wedding at 4:00 followed by a reception at 5:30 at a hotel. It's a semi-formal / formal event. I'm planning on wearing a beautiful chocolate brown coloured velvet and silk diagonally striped dress (calf-length in back, knee-length in front) that is fairly conservative, other than the fact that it's rather low-cut. My plan was to wear the dress with a three-quarter length peacoat for the ceremony and take it off at the reception. Do you think that this is acceptable or should I find some sort of wrap for the reception? I'm in my early 20's. Thanks!

Dear Wants to Be Appropriate,
It is refreshing to hear of a young person knowing what is expected in a church wedding. Bravo.
You will be dressed appropriately for the reception. No worries.
