     stating proper attire on invitations

Hello,

I am trying to finalize our wedding invitations and I am having a tough time finding the correct words for attire.

We are trying to have a casual beach / banquet hall wedding on Long island in the summer. The grooms men are wearing linen pants and the ladies in summer dresses.

How do you tell the guests not to wear jeans but polo shirts and dress pants?

Country club casual

Resort Casual

Dear Wording,

Reference to attire is not included on wedding invitations unless it is a combination wedding/reception invitation and the event is formal or black tie.

You could include this information on an enclosure. Probably country club casual would be best. If you used resort casual, you may get too many guests wearing shorts. You could also define the dress code for them. Many guests find this refreshing.

Best wishes,
