Can you provide more information about the wedding such as level of formality, location, etc?

I don't believe the wedding is black tie, but I am unsure since I was invited as a guest. I know a gown is not appropriate because I was told. The reception is at a country club in New York.

Check with the recipient of the invitation. The formaility of the event should be evident by the time, location and style of invitation. If the wedding were black tie, that information would be included on the invitation. If you still are unsure, call the country club and ask.
