HELP!! the wedding is this weekend. Groom was in my wedding 5 years ago, don't know the bride. It is going to be chilly where we will be, can I wear a velvet dress? Its simple and black, will it work??

Yes, definitely. It may be best to wear a jacket for the wedding though. This will make it a bit more conservative, plus detract a bit from its formality--hopefully.
