what to wear to an afternoon Catholic wedding

I have to attend a wedding in September and was instructed to wear a nice dress. Its an afternoon Catholic ceremony -

1. What kind of dress should I wear? Are there restrictions on colors, length, bare legs/shoulders?
Could I wear a skirt/nice top?

2. Should we change between the ceremony and reception since there will be around a 3 hour time gap in between?

You can wear a skirt and nice top for the ceremony and then change in to a more formal outfit for the reception.

Thank you.

I am not sure we will have time to go back to our hotel and change so I was thinking about just wearing the same dress for both the ceremony and reception.

i have 2 options - a brown and coral halter..jersey material (with cover up) or a black and beige dress that is less dressy /more something that i could even wear to work or dinner..
