I'm wearing an ivory shirt to match my fiancee's ivory dress. She wants me to wear a black vest with an ivory tie. To me, it seems like that doesn't work too well. Would wearing an ivory shirt/vest and tie be too must ivory?

Sure, the wedding is at 6:30 pm and the ceremony is taking place on the lawn right outside the reception area.

I'm not the fashion expert. But, I did want to compliment you on choosing the correct attire for the time of day, as long as your event is formal, however.
If your wedding is during the summer months or in a warm climate, you could wear an ivory tux (etiquette rules). Everything else could be a complimentary color. But again, I'm not the fashion expert. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Ivory shirt/tie and vest is NOT too much ivory; on the contrary, it will look nice and elegant. However, you don't want to upset your fiancee, so try to discuss with her first if she would consider you wearing these three items in ivory. Explain that it makes you more comfortable having all three items in ivory.
