My fiance and I were discussing the tuxedos that he and the groomsmen would be wearing. He told me that his best man already owns a tuxedo so he will not need to rent one, and that he probably wouldn't rent one if asked. I told my fiance that my concern is whether his bestman's tux will match everyone else, but he replied that the bestman should look a little different from the rest. Even if the tuxedo suit isn't a big deal, the other issue is the accessories (shoes, vest, tie, etc.) I don't want to argue with him about this. What should I do? What is the proper etiquette for the groom and his groomsmen attire? Should I just let it be and let him do whatever he wants, or put my foot down on this matter? HELP! Thanks in advance.

Re: [binxgal] Does the male wedding party need to match?

Dear Binxgal,
It is my opinion that it is a honor to be in a wedding party, and by no means should this guy compromise your wedding by not agreeing to rent a tuxedo because he already owns one. What will it cost him, maybe $150 or less? If it's such a big deal for him, then let him have the free tuxedo that the tuxedo shop will give (normally the groom takes it). Come on, this is a special day, dont let this guy ruin it. The wedding party should look uniform, not the best man standing out; only the groom should stand out.
