Should groom and groomsmen wear tuxedos for afternoon wedding?
My fiance and his groomsmen want to wear black tuxedos (with black vests and ties) to our July wedding. We are marrying at 4:30, with a cocktail hour from 6:00-7 with a plated meal and dancing afterward. My mom recently heard that it was not appropriate for men in the wedding to wear black tuxedos if the wedding was before 6:00 in the summer. Is this true?
We want the wedding to be formal, but we aren't expecting "black tie". My bridesmaids are wearing tea length silk dupioni dresses and the wedding is in a traditional church with the reception at the country club.
If the men should not wear black tuxedos, what color is appropriate? Are tuxedos still appropriate at all? We do not want them wearing suits if at all possible. Any ideas? Please help!

Dear Bellsnjuly,
It is true that we shouldn't wear tuxes before 5-6 pm. But, you are so close to that time and your reception begins directly afterward, that you could press the issue, especially if I'm not watching :)
Technically, the white jacket is the choice of summer though. But, many will wear the black all year.
If your dress is not formal, the correct menswear would be the stroller.
