     formal wedding groomsmen informal attire

My daughter is planning a formal wedding and the groom and groomsmen are wearing khaki's and white linen shirts. It is in the summer time but I am thinking about how they expect everyone else to dress? My daughter is wearing the traditional wedding gown and the bridesmaids are wearing nice dresses also. How can I talk her out of this? Thanks for your answers.

Dear Loola,

Maybe it isn't as formal as you think. The traditional wedding dress in less "formal" material, would be less formal. But, if you feel that the women will be dressed much more formally than the men, which it does sound as if they will be, perhaps you could ask her to read an etiquette book or visit this site for advice.

Bottom line, though, it is her wedding and she makes the decisions. There isn't much you can do except try to offer the best advice possible.

Best wishes,
