Hi. Our wedding is in early April at 4 pm and the colors are white, silver, and lavender. My fiance is insistent that he and the groomsmen wear black shirts with their suits/tuxedos. I always thought that the black shirts were more for fall/winter weddings. All of the decorations/flowers will be in pastel colors and I think the black shirts will not look right with the other colors - any suggestions? Is there any way to work the black shirts in to make him happy without altering the look of the entire wedding? Thanks in advance for your help.

Dear Slsherrill,
There isn't anything etiquette 'ly' wrong with wearing black shirts as long as your wedding isn't very formal. In fact, it usually looks trendy. But, fashion isn't my territory.

Dear slsherrill,
My question is: what color are their suits? If they are also black, that combination might make the wedding party look too gloomy. To lighten the look while keeping your fiancee happy, you can have them wear silver or lavender vests and ties. Good luck!
