Ceremony at 2 pm and reception at 6:30. Black tuxedo for groom ok for both?

Hi!

Wedding ceremony planned at 2 pm and reception planned at 6:30 pm. (And will take place at the end of summer, with daylight up until 8 pm or so). The venue for the reception is a classic formal mansion.)

Is it appropriate for the groom to wear a black tuxedo for the ceremony + the reception? Or just the reception? Would a longer suit e.e.g stroller/cutaway be better during the day? Does this necessitate changing clothes in the evening

Thanks for your help!

Dear Mycl,

It really isn't polite to schedule the events so far apart in time. When we invite guests, we are hosts and should consider their comfort. So, it would best to schedule them closer together.

A tuxedo is formal evening wear. So, the stroller/cutaway would be proper for the daytime.

The men would have to change.

Best wishes,
