Clergy is the father of the groom - tuxedo?

Help! Our clergyman is the father of the groom. He says it is not customary for the clergy to wear a tuxedo. We want him to match the father-of-the-bride in attire. (Black tux, burgundy vest) Is there an etiquette statement for clergy wearing tuxedos?

Dear Wants the Tux,

The etiquette involved concerns the bridal party not clergy. Clergy members typically wear their choice of attire. However, in this case the clergy member is a father. He should wear the same attire as the male members of the bridal party.

Please remember that the tux is evening attire. :)

Dear Rebecca,

I side with you, put the clergy in a tuxedo!
