     Daytime wedding attire for groom?

I am getting married in a mid-day ceremony. I suspect tuxedos are too formal for our semi-formal event, but what is a suitable (pardon the pun) alternative for the groom and groomsmen?

Dear Bay Bride,

A cutaway or daytime coat would be suitable either in charcoal grey or black.

What kind of pants or tie would that go well with? Someone suggested morning (or mourning) coats. What are those? Is there a hard and fast rule for morning wedding attire that I should take into consideration? The wedding will take place around 11am in the summer. I want everyone to be dressed appropriately, but also want our bridal attendants to be comfortable since it might be a hot day. Thank you.

Dear Bay Bride,

A morining coat is either grey or black and is long in the back and long in the front worn with hickory striped charcoal trousers with an ascot or necktie.

Morning coats would be worn for a formal wedding held during the day--any wedding that you wear a tux if it was held in the evening.

You had stated before that your wedding is semi-formal. If it is, then the men would only have to wear suits.
