My daughter is having an October wedding in Florida (most likely warm/hot temperature). Her dress is somewhat formal and the bridesmaids will be wearing full-length gowns in a deep shade of purple, however they want to keep it somewhat informal since it is a 10:00 a.m. garden ceremony.
We know the men should not wear tuxes. We can't find anywhere that rents suits. One rental store sells tan linen suits but we were thinking grey might be a nicer color. They don't want to ask all the men to BUY a suit anyway. Any suggestions?
Suits would be best and either color would be fine, although, I agree that grey would be a wonderful choice. It isn't unreasonable to ask the men to purchase a suit. There are even thrifts that might have some. It just may be difficult to find one for each person though. But, with an informal wedding, there shouldn't be very many attendants. Other than that, I don't know what the couple should do if they can't find suit for rent.
The groom may decide to buy a suit and the father of the bride would not mind buying one either. Since the 2 groomsmen have to travel to arrive at the wedding, the groom dislikes the idea of asking them or his father to buy a suit too, which no doubt would cost more than renting a suit. (We have found a site that rents “midnight blue” suits which is not as acceptable as grey, but the closest thing we can locate that may work. Your opinion?)
1) Would it look strange if the suits do not match—keeping in mind we assume the rental suits would be of a lesser quality than what one might want to purchase. So, if the groom buys a suit and the groomsmen rent, it might not be the same suit. Could the groom be, say, in dark blue or grey and the groomsmen in midnight blue?
2) What about the attire for the father of the bride?
3) What should the father of the groom do--who probably won’t want to buy a suit either?
