     Groom matching the groomsmen?

I am getting married in Las Vegas on Sept 24th at 6:30pm. I know that according to tradition, the groom is not supposed to wear a grey cutaway tux with an ascot after 6pm. That is what kind of tux I am looking at. I have picked a black 3-button notch tux for the groomsmen, with a royal-bluish vest (to match the bridesmaid dresses), and royal-bluish formal knot tie. My question is, would it be inappropriate for me to wear such a different tux from the groomsmen?

Dear Groom,

Your are mixing up your suits here. The cutaway is not viewed as a tuxedo even though it is rented through the same store and appears as one.

You are supposed to be dressed the same as your groomsmen. You may wear a different color vest or tie than your groomsmen, but not a completely different suit. Plus, the cutaway is a formal daytime suit.

Best wishes,
