Groomsman & Dress Blues for Wedding

The groom has a stepbrother that is in the Marines and he will be a groomsman. The stepbrother wants to wear his dress blues for the ceremony but I am concerned it will take the attention away from the groom and he won't match the other groomsman. Is it bad to ask him to wear a tuxedo like the other groomsmen? Help this has turned into a family war!

Dear Wants a Tux,

He should wear a tux just the same as the other groomsmen. A guest could wear his dress blues. But a groomsman in a wedding that is not a military affair should conform.

Best wishes,
